Episode of Care Types

A patient’s profile may consist of different types of Episodes of Care. These types will depend on the following: if the account has an established EMR connection to Keet, the EMR vendor, and whether or not your clinic participates in MIPS. Within this article, you can review the conditions which impact what types of Episodes of Care may appear within a patient’s profile. When will I see the different types of Episodes of Care?

Types of Episodes of Care

Default Episode of Care

A Default Episode of Care is generated in a patient’s profile when the patient is created in Keet, either by data sent over from the EMR your clinic has connected to Keet (if any), or when a Care Team Member creates a new patient in the Keet system. Default Episodes of Care are blank and will remain blank, even if/when an EMR sends patient data to Keet.

Migrated Episode of Care

A Migrated Episode of Care contains exercises and questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient prior to migration. In some cases, the Migrated Episode of Care may only contain questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient up until December 31, 2020. In other cases, they may contain any and all exercises and questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient prior to the date of migration.

Untitled Episode of Care

An Untitled Episode of Care may be an Episode of Care that contains migrated patient data. If it contains migrated patient data, then it may contain questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient up until December 31, 2020, or questionnaires assigned in 2021 that cannot be associated with a case. It may also be an Episode of Care which is automatically generated by data from your EMR after the migration. The Untitled Episodes of Care generated after migration will be populated with patient data from your EMR, but will not have a title automatically generated, thus they will appear with the title “Untitled Episode of Care”.

Titled Episode of Care

A Titled Episode of Care is an Episode of Care that the system generates a title for, such as Left Shoulder Episode of Care. The system will generate the title for these Episodes of Care based on case data from your EMR. Depending on your integration and MIPS participation status, a Titled Episode of Care may contain migrated patient data, or it may be generated by data from the EMR for a new case after migration. For Titled Episodes of Care that contain migrated patient information, it will only contain exercises and questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient up until December 31, 2020. For Titled Episodes of Care generated by data from the EMR after migration, case details will be populated through the connection to your EMR.

Case ID Episode of Care

A Case ID Episode of Care will be generated for new cases after migration, depending on which EMR your clinic has. When a new case is created in your EMR, the EMR will send patient data to the Keet platform, which will result in a Case ID Episode of Care being generated. The Episode of Care will be titled with the Case ID number from the EMR, such as Case: 1897356.

When will I see the different types of Episodes of Care?

1. After migrating to the new Keet Platform

If your clinic does not have an EMR connected to Keet OR if your clinic does not participate in MIPS:

You will see Migrated Episodes of Care in the patient profile of each patient who was migrated to the new Keet Platform. The Migrated Episode of Care will contain all the exercises and questionnaires that had been assigned to the patient prior to migration.

If your clinic uses any EMR and has it connected to Keet, and participates in MIPS:

You will see Migrated Episodes of Care in the patient profile of each patient that was migrated to the new Keet platform. All exercises assigned to the patient prior to migration, and any questionnaires assigned to the patient prior to December 31, 2020, will be contained in the Migrated Episode of Care.

If your clinic uses the Clinicient EMR and has it connected to Keet and your clinic participates in MIPS:

You will see a Titled Episode of Care when a migrated patient has had any questionnaires assigned in 2021.

If your clinic uses the WebPT EMR, or any other EMR, and has it connected to Keet and your clinic participates in MIPS:

You will see an Untitled Episode of Care when a migrated patient has had any questionnaires assigned in 2021.

2. When a new Patient comes to your Clinic:

Any new patient created after migrating to the new Keet Platform will appear with a Default Episode of Care in their Patient Profile.

If your clinic uses the Clinicient EMR and has it connected to Keet, a Titled Episode of Care will also be generated for each new patient.

If your clinic uses the WebPT EMR and has it connected to Keet, a Case ID Episode of Care will also be generated for each new patient.

If your clinic uses any other EMR and has it connected to Keet, an Untitled Episode of Care will also be generated for each new patient.
